Recycling the Scrapbook Way

I've been meaning to mention a special highlight from my trip to the Bay Area.  During one of my classes in Pleasanton, a woman recommended an art supply store to check out, located in Berkeley. I decided to check it out one morning and boy did I fall in LOVE.  The store is run completely on donations- people from everywhere (even the local colleges) donate their "junk" to be sold at nearly free prices to artists who then take that to use in their art.  Think Goodwill for artists.  The next time you're in Berkeley, check this place out!  Keep in mind, you will need a hugely creative mind to fully appreciate this store.  I think it's a natural fit for scrapbookers who love to make altered art.  I found stamps for 50 cents, Stazon, old film reels and even dominoes; I walked out with two bags full of loot for just $17! Sew Cute

And it is, too!  How stinking adorable is this?  I've actually had this sewing machine for about 5 years now but it's been collecting a little dust lately.  Ever since NSD, when I decided to whip it out to stitch some felt, I haven't been able to help myself from finding things to sew down onto my pages.  I love "traditional" sewing machines, especially with the variety of stitches that are available (love me some zigzag!) but this little guy is just perfect for my workspace.  What's even cooler?  They come in Pink, Mint Green or Yellow!  I purchased mine at a LSS that has since closed, but after some internet snooping I found these sites that have them for sale:

Heidi Mania

I'm LOVING the new Heidi Swapp products that have recently come out of CHA.  It has made me appreciate the older product even more, if you can imagine that.  Right now i'm just on this Heidi kick (you all know how once i love something, i just run with it). After this week though, I'm completely inundated with HS products..  not that i'm complaining. 

Product courtesy of: Kim gave me an extra Heidi Costco kit that she had, we made a shopping trip to a LSS and my order from HeidiSwapp.com came in today!  Now I have no excuse not to finish my 5 layouts for this week.  Right now i'm at, you guessed it, zero.  le sigh. ♥

Happy New Year!

I hope you all had a VERY Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year (as well as a Happy Birthday to J who happens to be a New Year's baby).  As for me, I worked.  :)  Not exactly fun, but it's kept me so completely busy I haven't had that much time to think about how anxious I am to finally have J back- just another month or so to go! 

I'm excited, too, about all of the upcoming classes at Ever After.. there's so much cool new product to play with that I haven't been able to stop coming up with ideas.  Gotta LOVE IT when that happens.  My favorite scrap products right now?  Anything with glitter, wings or pirate stuff (cute skulls/crossbones).  It's rather interesting how i seem to always like things that turn into trends.  Here are some pics of my latest favorite finds:

(From top to bottom) Metal Index Tabs by Making Memories, Button Sensations (which are GIANT buttons in an array of patterns & colors) were found in the craft section at Wal-Mart and the Metal Buttons were found in the dollar bins at Target- SO cute for girl pages or layouts that need some attitude.  :)
